Numark PT01 Scratch Review, Guide & Full Specifications

The Numark PT01 Scratch is a portable turntable designed specifically for scratch practice and turntablism away from a full DJ setup. It combines a built-in adjustable Scratch Slide Switch, battery operation, an integrated speaker, USB recording and three playback speeds in a compact carrying-case design.

Unlike a conventional club turntable, the PT01 Scratch is built around portability. It can run from mains power or six D-cell batteries, making it useful for practice, portable scratching and casual vinyl listening almost anywhere.

Adjustable Scratch Slide Switch

The defining feature is Numark’s Scratch Slide Switch, which acts as a compact scratch-cut control. It can be repositioned for left- or right-handed use and is user-replaceable, making the PT01 Scratch much more suitable for portable turntablism than a normal portable record player.

Portable battery operation

The turntable can run from the included AC adaptor or six D-cell batteries. The hard case and built-in handle make it practical to carry between locations without needing a permanent DJ booth.

Built-in speaker and auxiliary input

An integrated speaker allows basic monitoring without external equipment. A 3.5 mm stereo input can accept a phone, tablet or other audio source, letting a backing beat play while a scratch record is used on the platter.

USB vinyl recording

The class-compliant USB connection can send the turntable’s audio to a computer for recording and archiving. It does not power the turntable, so the AC adaptor or batteries are still required.

Three playback speeds

Support for 33⅓, 45 and 78 RPM records makes the PT01 Scratch suitable for a broad range of vinyl sizes and formats, not only specialist scratch records.
